Global Local has paired up with Two For Joy to present the Acoustic Soundclash Showcase at Rich Mix in Shoreditch (our newest fav venue). Friday 18th of Feb from 7.30pm.

A varied line up represents the vast spectrum of folk and acoustic music of the British Isles: a fantastic multi-instrumental eight piece band Cocos Lovers, the authentic yet remixed sounds of Traditional English Folk from Sam Lee and the Gillie Boys, through alt-Americana bluegrass from London’s very own Western Swing pop-groupThe Wagon Tales, and culminating in a the stonking up tempo Celtic folk fusion of the Smith, Brynes O’Sullivan trio.

Fresh from their New Year’s Eve fiesta at RichMix, Global Local Latin partner Movimientos present a taste of the current live Latin scene in the UK.
Representing Colombia via Brighton, Pollito Boogaloo play raw Cumbia and Vallenato. Sending crowds into a dancing frenzy with their tight hypnotic grooves, it’s no wonder they were recently selected to support Femi Kuti.
Having just launched their excellent debut EP, Wara are one of the most exciting new acts to emerge from the thriving Latin scene, re-interpreting Cuban Funk and Tropical rhythms with a serious London groove!
Jardares Por Fuera have set alight every stage they’ve played on in the last year and gained a dedicated following. They play fiery blend of Rumba-Flamenco enriched with Reggae, Swing and Hip Hop.

The night is complemented by Movimientos’ DJ Arias, no stranger to ripping up London and festival dancefloors with a funky blend of Latin beats and Tropical bass.

Welcome to a surreal world where the absurd is everyday and where eccentricity isn’t just celebrated but elevated to performance art” - Bestival… so with this in mind imagine the fun to be had as Club Dada takes over the delightful Stoke Newington Town Hall for one night only. Legendary compère Ida Barr heads the line-up and is joined by Comedy Award winner Phil Kay, plus Rod Laver with his hilarious oral ping pong, the mesmerising acrobatics of Tumbellina, Lee Thompson – pick pocket extraordinaire, Edd Muir on the Chinese Pole and festival favourite Bruce Airhead. And for pudding … The Correspondents play a special electro swing set until 11pm!

Gypsy Hill is collaboration between DJ Kobayashi and Herbert Newbert forming together authentic Balkan/Gypsy/Swing/Mediterranean music with a touch of electronic beats, scratching and uplifting bass lines.

Their work includes remixes from different artist such as:Balkan Beat Box, Al Jawala, Fanfare Ciocarlia, Besh o droM,Kocani Orkestar, Boom Pam and more… as well as their own original material…..

The live band includes Benson on trombone, Andy ‘Candy Man’ Princz on the trumpet, The Froik keeping the rhythm on the classical guitar, Mr Poo on the Tuba and Juba on the Drums.

Gypsy Hill also brings their very own visual extravaganza supplied by Hexagonz.
